In a post on his official The neglected, exploited and oppressed sections of the society fought shoulder to shoulder to save the Constitution which gives the right to equality, respect, self-respect, dignified life and reservation.

The post comes after Akhilesh Yadav gave Samajwadi Party's best-ever performance in the general elections and emerged as the third largest party in the 18th Lok Sabha by winning 37 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

In Uttar Pradesh, while SP won 37 seats, Congress also won 6 seats, limiting BJP to 33 seats.

Saying it was a victory for the "defenders of the Constitution", the SP chief said, "Dear voters, you have proved that someone's strength or someone's deception is not greater than the power of the public.This time the people have won, not the rulers."

SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chand thanked the people of Uttar Pradesh and the country and said, "SP has become the third largest party in the country and the credit for this goes to the people of UP and the country." We thank all the minorities, backward people, Dalits and farmers."

He also told IANS that the party would finalize its roadmap for further action by Wednesday evening.

Mocking BJP, the SP spokesperson said, "There is no tax on dreaming. When the public asked him questions on paper leak, Agneepath scheme, inflation and farmers' income, he was dreaming. Hasan said the victory was possible because farmers, the poor and youth who had opposed the Agneepath scheme supported the party "after being ignored by the BJP".
