Addressing a public meeting in Assandh's Balla village in the Karnal Lok Sabha, Hooda said the BJP has "lathi-charged" every section of the society, including farmers, workers, employees, traders, temporary workers and sanitation workers.

“Now, the opportunity has come to avenge the injury of lathicharge through voting. This is not just an election, but a fight to save the Constitution and democracy.” Just as entire Haryana is voting unilaterally for Congress to defeat BJP, similarly Karnal has also become a part of this campaign.

Hooda was in Karnal to seek votes for Congress candidates Divyanshu Budhiraja for the parliamentary seat and Trilochan Singh for the Karnal Assembly by-election.The two-time Chief Minister said that inputs coming from across the country indicate that a coalition government will be formed at the Centre.

After victory in Lok Sabha, it is certain that Congress will form government in Haryana also. As soon as Congress government is formed in Haryana, criminals and miscreants will not be allowed to live here.

He said that Congress wants the youth to move forward on the path of employment instead of becoming victims of drug addiction, crime and migration.

This is why Congress in its manifesto has promised to provide 30 lakh government jobs within a year.Haryana Congress has also announced to provide more than 2 lakh jobs.

Speaking on the occasion, Divyanshu Budhiraja said that BJP undoubtedly has money power, but Congress has manpower and youth power.

“The Congress high command has again fielded a youth from an ordinary family against the former Chief Minister. That's why the people of Karnal themselves are contesting the elections. Many big leaders like former Panipat MLA Rohita Revdi, independent MLA from Nilokheri Dharampal Gonder and former deputy mayor Mano Wadhwa have left BJP and joined Congress.

Veteran BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar, who as Chief Minister of Haryana advocated simultaneous assembly and general elections in the state, faces a litmus test in his main support base Karnal, where assembly by-elections are scheduled on May 25 and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously.,

Khattar not only has to ensure the victory of his successor Chief Minister Naya Saini in the bypolls, but also wins his first Lok Sabha battle to make it a BJP hat-trick in Karnal, which is spread across nine assembly constituencies.

The by-election had become necessary after Khattar's resignation from the post of Chief Minister on March 13.

In the sixth phase in Haryana, by-elections for 10 parliamentary seats and the only Karnal assembly seat will be held on May 25, while the results will be declared on June 4.
