Ramgarh (Jharkhand): Suspected extortionists opened fire on a 35-year-old railway contractor, injuring him, in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Tuesday. Police gave this information.
The contractor has been admitted to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
The incident took place at a work place in Kadru village under Barkakana police post.
Barkakana police station in-charge Akhtar Ali said the injured man, identified as Gyanendra Kumar, was shot at close range by suspected gangsters.
He said that a case has been registered in connection with the incident and the police have started raids to arrest the miscreants.
