While members of water management authority Mhadei Pravah inspected the stretch of the river in Karnataka on Saturday, some persons allegedly damaged a bus of Goa's state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) in Belagavi in protest against the Goa government's inspection move. But stopped.

Reacting to the incident, CM Sawant said on Tuesday, "Mhadei Pravah is an independent authority. I don't know why Karnataka is unhappy with their inspection. It is important to allow them to conduct unbiased observations. Their report will be authentic.”

Sawant said, "The incident of burning of my photograph by some people in Karnataka shows that we are on the right track in fighting the case."

The Goa Chief Minister said the team inspected the Mhadei section at the right 'point' and observed how water is diverted.

“We are on the right track. Let Pravah submit the report. I am confident and confident that his decision will help Goa,” CM Sawant said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought approval for the Kalasa Banduri drinking water project.

Responding to this, CM Sawant had said that the Center will take Goa into confidence before taking any decision.

He said, “I have informed the Prime Minister about this issue. So, let anyone ask for anything, Goa will be taken into confidence before taking any decision. There will be no injustice to us. Our entire team is working for the safety of Mhadei,” CM Sawant said.

Mhadei originates in Karnataka and joins the Arabian Sea at Panaji.

Karnataka plans to build a dam on the 28.8 km long river stretch that flows through it to divert water into its Malaprabha basin in the north.
