CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday accused the BJ government at the Center of "betraying" the state by denying disaster relief funds and justice and cautioned that people are keeping an eye on the Centre's every action.

He said, though the state government has sought Rs 37,907 crore for relief and rehabilitation after the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone Michoun and unprecedented rains (in December 2023), the Center has announced only Rs 276 crore.

"This is also when we approached the Supreme Court (seeking assistance from the Centre)," the chief minister said in a post on social media platform 'X'.

Stalin said the Tamil Nadu government has so far spent Rs 2,477 crore from the state disaster fund for immediate relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

“Our people are keeping an eye on every action of the BJP government, which is betraying that there is no fund and no justice for Tamil Nadu,” the Chief Minister said.
