CNCCI President Khekugha Muru said the decision has been taken in view of the fact that the bandh was imposed in many districts without giving prior notice to the people.

The CNCI urged the government to take steps to stop the "continued" extortion and intimidation by underground groups.

State Home Commissioner Vicky Kenya has directed the police to take strict action as "such activities reflect adversely on the law enforcement agency as well as the state government".

He directed the district administration and police to report violations of ground rules of ceasefire to the Ceasefire Monitoring Group for appropriate action and continue to arrest "underground cadres" involved in extortion under the National Security Act.

On the other hand, DCCI on Saturday submitted a five-point demand letter to the state government through the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur.DCCI demanded that the state government immediately clarify whether the taxation on NPG was legal or illegal. It was also wondered whether the business community should pay GST or taxation of NPG.

The DCCI asked the government to declare "convening of members of the business community to NPG offices, camps and monitoring rooms" illegal and to empower law enforcement agencies to take action against such places.

The DCCI also demanded that extortion, kidnapping and obstruction of transportation should be dealt with swiftly and with full force and without any punishment.
