Tezpur (Assam), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Sonitpur Lok Sabha candidate Rishira Kaundinya claimed that people are fed up with the politics of Congress and BJP and are ready to give a chance to her party in Assam.

Kaundinya also claimed that the opposition's attempt to unite against the BJP on all Lok Sabha seats in Assam failed because of the Congress and the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

The AAP candidate expressed confidence of winning the Sonitpur constituency and said people wanted change after "losing their faith in Congress and BJP".

"Since independence, people here have seen only three things, increase in prices of commodities, increase in minister's wealth and increase in suffering of people," he said in an interview.

The AAP candidate said, “Building roads is not real development.Improvement in the condition of people is real development."

Kaundinya claimed that after Purna Narayan Sinha, who was elected from here as a Janata Party candidate in 1977, no Lok Sabha MP from this constituency would be able to strongly present the issues of the region in Parliament or take any major initiative. Have not been able to.

Taking an indirect dig at BJP candidate Ranjit Dutta from Sonitpur, Kaundinya said, "The youth want change. The BJP people are senior people, they have been in politics for a long time and have also been ministers. But they have not done any remarkable work." Is." People."

He said that the people of the constituency who have visited Delhi, Punja and other parts of the country have seen the development taking place there, and want it to be replicated in their state too.

"Unemployment is a problem here. So, people are working in Delhi, Punjab. They have seen development there, no electricity bills, medical care is free, buses are free for women, etc. They want a government that can give it to them. Things are here too,” he said.

Referring to Congress members and leaders joining the BJP here, including the Chief Minister, who is a former member of the grand old party, Kaundinya said, "BJP was an independent party which is now filled with Congress people The same people who were ruining the country like the Congress used to do, are now pretending to save the country.

The AAP Sonitpur candidate said, “People do not trust him and they want a party that works for them.,

He claimed that the opposition's attempt to unite against the BJP on all Lok Sabha seats in Assam failed because of the Congress and the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

Kaundinya said AAP is committed to a united opposition, as is evident from giving seats to Congress in Delhi and Punjab and withdrawing candidates in Goa, where his party is in power.

"In Assam too, AAP withdrew its candidate from the prestigious Guwahati seat from where our state president was nominated. This was for the Unite Opposition Forum, Assam (UofA)," he said.

UofA, a multi-party forum, was formed in the state to field a common candidate against the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections last year, but the alliance has pitted its candidates against each other in several constituencies. The UofA member is contesting from Sonitpur and Dibrugarh, where Congress's Premlal Gunju and AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi are also candidates, respectively.

Highlighting that the state Congress chief and AJP chief are the president and secretary of UofA respectively, Kaundinya said, "Congress has given candidates from 1 seat, and the secretary himself is a candidate from the 14th seat. The president and secretary of UofA have given candidates from the seats. They divided the money among themselves and left nothing for the partners, we feel that they want to help the BJP directly and not because of us.

A total of eight candidates are in the fray in Sonitpur, where voting will be held on April 19.
