Nagpur: Authorities have seized two boats and over 160 fishing nets in a crackdown on illegal fishing in Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra. A forest officer gave this information on Monday.

Pench Tiger Reserve (Maharashtra) Deputy Director Prabhu Nath Shukla said in a release that the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) made the seizure in the last two days to tackle illegal fishing in Totladoh dam.

Totladoh Dam, part of the Meghdoot Reservoir and located within the critical tiger habitat of the Pench Tiger Reserve, plays a vital role in maintaining the biodiversity of the region.

He said STPF Totladoh seized two boats with 165 fishing nets in Magar Nala and Jamun Nala areas.

"This recovery is a testament to our unwavering dedication to protect the delicate ecosystem of the Totladoh dam in the reserve," Shukla said.
