LAHORE: Each member of Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad will receive US$100,000 if they win the ICC event in the US in June, the country's cricket board announced on Sunday.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement after spending about two hours with the players here on Monday night before leaving for the T20 series against Ireland and England.

Naqvi also said that the prize money has no importance compared to lifting the trophy, expressing hope that the team will fly the flag of Pakistan.

"PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced a prize of $100,000 for the player who wins the T20 World Cup," the PCB posted on social media.

He also told the players to "not care about anyone" but just play for Pakistan and demonstrate teamwork, and "God willing", the team would win.

Naqvi further said that all the players are united and expressed hope that fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will perform brilliantly in the tournament.

“The country has a lot of expectations from you. You have to complete them,” he told the players.

During his visit, the PCB Chairman also gave special shirts to the players for their achievements. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan was awarded the shirt for completing 3,000 T20 runs, while fast bowler Naseem Shah was awarded the shirt for taking 100 T20 wickets.
