The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday revealed that an independent three-member medical committee comprising Rana Dilawiz Nadeem, Mumrai Naqshband and Javed Akram has been tasked with reviewing the handling of fast bowler Ihsanullah's right elbow injury and recommending the next steps. “Ihsanullah should continue aggressive physiotherapy and rehabilitation on the right elbow and shoulder. If he does not heal in six to 12 months, surgery may be the last option,” the report said.

In addition to recommending a treatment plan, the medical committee also identified delays in diagnosing Ihsanullah's injury, inappropriate prescription of treatment, as well as non-compliance by the Fas bowler with the prescribed rehabilitation plan.

Ihsanullah suffered an elbow injury during Pakistan's white-ball series against New Zealand in April 2023 and has been out of action since then.Meanwhile, PCB's Director of Medical and Sports Sciences Sohail Saleem submitted his resignation, which has been accepted by the PCB.

“The committee has concluded that Ihsanullah's right elbow pain condition was not properly diagnosed, treated and managed. There were delays in accessing medical diagnosis and testing. “He did not receive the pharma rehabilitation process appropriate for his condition,” the report said.

The report further said, “His surgery was hastily planned without any expert review and preoperative assessment.,

Besides this, the medical committee also reviewed the cases of Arsha Iqbal, Zeeshan Zameer and women cricketer Shawal Zulfikar.

Regarding Arshad, the committee recommended a two-month rehabilitation program, while for Zeeshan, the committee suggested the bowler get examined by a foot and ankle specialist. For Shawal, the committee suggested a CT scan of his right shoulder before proposing further action.
