Mumbai, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Monday questioned the state government about the facilities set up for the safety of tourists at picnic spots during monsoon and the steps taken to prevent accidents.

Patole raised the issue in the state assembly a day after five people were washed away in the Bhushi dam in Lonavala.

While bodies of four, including three children, have been recovered, police, naval divers and other rescue teams are searching for the four-year-old boy.

The Congress leader said the government should clarify what steps it is taking to prevent such accidents at picnic spots during monsoon.

Patole also demanded that the authorities provide facilities to the persons protesting at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.

"There is mud and filth all around in Azad Maidan. Is the government waiting for an accident?" He asked.

He also demanded rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Powai whose houses were demolished by the authorities.
