Sahoke, who was elected by bypassing the party's sitting MP Mohammad Sadiq, had contested the election against ruling AAP candidate and Punjabi actor Karamjit Anmol, BJP's Hans Raj Hans and Shiromani Akali Dal's Rajvinder Singh.After not getting a ticket in the 2022 assembly elections, Sahoke left the Akali Dal and joined the Congress.

Voting for all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab will be held on June 1.
