Mumbai, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Tuesday visited the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and collected copies of the bylaws and nomination forms for the July 23 elections.

A Congress leader said Patole may file his nomination for the post of MCA president on Wednesday.

Patole was recently appointed the representative of Mazagon Cricket Club in the MCA.

The party leader said Patole talked to representatives of about 60 to 70 clubs for four hours to understand the election process.

Former MCA general secretary Shah Alam and members Shekhar Shetty and Bhushan Patil were with Patole.

There is a possibility that they will propose his name and make another proposal.

The post of MCA president had fallen vacant after the death of current chief Amol Kale last month.

The last date for filing nominations is July 10 at the Returning Officer's office between 11 am and 5 pm at the MCA Lounge at Wankhede Stadium.

The nominations will be scrutinized on July 11 and the persons whose names were proposed and approved will have to attend it.

Valid candidates will be announced on the same day.

The final list of candidates will be announced after withdrawal of nominations on July 16.

Voting will take place on July 23 and the results will be declared on the same day.
