On May 24, the court had given the police 13 more days to complete the investigation.

The chargesheet running into over 900 pages has been filed in the Patiala House Court, and the next hearing on the matter will be held to decide whether cognizance should be taken or not.

Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur is monitoring the case and last time she extended the deadline after the police claimed that some reports were awaited and digital data was in abundance.

Charge sheet has been filed against all the six accused Manoranjan D., Sagar Sharma, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde and Mahesh Kumawat. He is currently in judicial custody.

On December 13, the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, Manoranjan D. and Sharma burst a plume of yellow smoke inside the Lok Sabha chamber after jumping down from the visitors' gallery, before they were restrained by MPs present in the House. .

According to Raj Niwas officials, Delhi Police had requested the competent authority, i.e. the LG, to prosecute under sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA, who sanctioned the prosecution after sufficient material was found on record.

On December 14, 2023, Delhi Police had registered a case under sections 186, 353, 452, 153, 34 and 120B of the IPC and 13, 16, 18 UA (P) Act at the Sansad Marg police station on a complaint. Done by the security officer in the Lok Sabha.

Later the investigation of the case was transferred from Parliament Street Police Station to the Counter Intelligence Unit of the Special Cell.
