ISLAMABAD: An anti-corruption court in Pakistan on Tuesday granted pre-arrest bail to former first lady Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is jailed in an alleged corruption case.

Khan and Bibi, along with other accused, are accused of causing a loss of about Rs 50 billion to the national exchequer in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case, which allegedly involved providing benefits to a property tycoon in exchange for getting land for a university. Is included. ,

Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich presided over the hearing at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, where both Khan and Bushra Bibi are imprisoned in another case, and approved their pre-arrest bail pleas.

However, despite getting bail, 49-year-old Bushra will remain behind bars after being convicted in an illegal marriage case.

Khan, 71, was already granted pre-arrest bail in the case by the Islamabad High Court on May 14, but the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) challenged it in the Supreme Court on June 29.

NAB filed the Al-Qadir Trust case in the accountability court against Khan, his wife, close family friend Farah Gogi and others in December 2023.

In February, the Rawalpindi Accountability Court had convicted Khan and Bibi in this case.
