LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allocated around Rs 17 billion to upgrade its stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy.

The PCB Board of Governors approved the funds at a meeting in Lahore on Saturday, where Rs 240 million was allocated to be spent on women's cricket.

This was a huge jump for women's cricket from the Rs 70 crore approved in the previous budget.

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also told BoG members that the Champions Trophy will be hosted entirely in Pakistan and it will be discussed further at the ICC annual board meeting in Colombo later this month.

The meeting was primarily held to approve the PCB budget for 2024-25, which sees Pakistan host Bangladesh, England and West Indies in the season apart from a tri-series before the whistle and tour of Australia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Also had to do.

Naqvi told BOG members that the work of upgrading the stadiums has started as the board wants to improve the facilities for spectators and convert the venues into A category stadiums.

The BOG approved about Rs 13 billion from the development fund for the work of the three stadiums and Rs 4.5 billion for organizing the domestic season.

The BOG was also informed that the Board has decided to increase the central contract fee/salary for women cricketers and domestic players.

"The budget has been increased as the PCB wants to improve the competition levels and structures in both domestic and women's cricket," Naqvi told the BoG. or at
