Islamabad [Pakistan], Miscreants have blown up a 24-inch Sui gas pipeline in Mach town of Kutchhi district in Pakistan's Balochistan, disrupting gas supply to various areas including Quetta, ARY News reports.

Sources at Sui Southern Gas Company said that due to the damage caused by the explosion, the gas supply has been completely stopped.

Sui Southern Gas Company further announced that repair work on the damaged pipeline will begin on Monday morning, ARY News reported.

According to officials, earlier in February, gas supply to Mach city and its surrounding areas was suspended after a gas pipeline passing through the Bolan river burst.

Officials said a portion of the six-inch pipeline caught fire after the powerful explosion. According to Don.

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) engineers stopped the supply and a repair and maintenance team with necessary machinery was dispatched to the affected site.

SSGC spokesperson Safdar Hussain said they immediately started the repair work.

He further said that the team on the ground focused its energies on repairing the line as soon as possible to resume supplies by the next evening.
