ISLAMABAD [Pakistan], The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has transferred the Nikah case of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, Pakistan-based ARY News reported. .

After Bushra Bibi's ex-husband Khawar Manika raised objections to Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand had written a letter to the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court requesting to transfer the case.

After the approval of the transfer petition, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka will now hear the appeal against the conviction in the Nikah case, reports ARY News.

During the hearing on May 29, Khawar Maneka's lawyer requested Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand to transfer the case to another judge as Maneka "does not want you to decide the case."

Later, Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand wrote a letter to the High Court in a case related to the marriage of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. In the letter, the judge said that Khawar Manika expressed no confidence against him in the court hearing.The judge also said that Khawar Maneka's plea was earlier rejected on April 30, 2024. He said that the complainant's lawyer has always tried to delay the proceedings by making excuses. However, the judge believes that it is not right to raise specific objections against the presiding officer.

Arjumand said that arguments from both sides were heard in this matter. He urged the High Court to transfer these appeals to some other court which has jurisdiction to hear the case and also set a time limit for disposal of these petitions.

Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi in February 2018 in Lahore.The wedding was attended by close relatives including the bride's mother and friends. However, Imran Khan's sisters were not present.

According to ARY News report, Mufti Saeed performed the nikaah in the presence of former leader Awan Chaudhary and former SAPM Zulfi Bukhari, who appeared as witnesses.

Earlier in 2023, Khawar Maneka had approached the court and called the marriage illegal and against the laws of Sharia. The founder and his wife were charged with marrying within an "iddat period" of three months after the divorce.

Earlier in May, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PAT) lawyers were booked after an alleged attack on Bushra Bibi's ex-husband Khawar Maneka outside a court, ARY News reported.

According to the FIR, a group of 20-25 people, including lawyers Usman Riaz, Mirza Asim, Zahid Bashir and Ansar Kiani, are accused of attacking Khawar Maneka, injuring him.The lawyers have been accused of allegedly attempting to intimidate and manipulate judicial proceedings, facing charges of terrorism and nine additional counts.

Fatehullah, along with Naeem Panjotha and lawyer Ijaz Bhatti, allegedly physically attacked Khawar Maneka, while officers Irshad and Waheed's attempts to intervene were foiled by the lawyers, ARY News reported.

The allegations include Fatehullah getting into an altercation with constable Khalid and damaging his uniform. The incident occurred during a court session presided over by Justice Shahrukh Arjumand, where a legal petition against the sentence in the Nikah case of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was being considered.
