Srinagar: The number of pilgrims visiting Lord Shiva at the Amarnath cave temple in south Kashmir crossed the two lakh mark on Monday.

"24,879 pilgrims traveled on Monday and had darshan of Baba Bholenath on the seventh day of the annual yatra," officials said.

He said the number of pilgrims visiting the 3,880 meter high cave temple has now reached 2,07,016.

Officials said those who visited the cave temple included 16,826 male pilgrims, 5,345 female pilgrims, 398 sadhus and one sadhvi.

Over 2,000 security forces and 289 children also made the pilgrimage.

According to officials, there have been two deaths in this year's yatra - a sevadar from Haryana and a pilgrim from Jharkhand. Both the deceased had suffered cardiac arrest on Baltal road in June.

The 52-day pilgrimage will end on August 19. More than 4.5 lakh pilgrims visited the cave temple last year.
