Kottayam: Outgoing Rubber Board chairman Sawar Dhanania on Saturday said rubber growers in Kerala are shifting to other income-generating activities due to the infrastructure development taking place in the state.

While talking to the media, Dhanania said that if the farmers cultivating rubber move forward, then within a decade the country will produce more rubber than the demand.

He said, "It has immense potential as rubber plantations in Kerala started 75 years ago, involving three generations of cultivation. However, due to greater infrastructure development, growers in the state are looking for other activities with better earning opportunities. "Moving in."

Dhanania requested rubber growers in Kerala to continue cultivating it, even if on a limited scale.
