Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Friday claimed that the organizers and administration are responsible for the Hathras stampede and said it is time to console the families affected by the incident.

Addressing the administration over the mishap, Tiwari said, "It is very clear that the administration and the organizers are responsible for this entire incident. This incident occurred due to the negligence of these two."

He added: "There was permission for 80,000 people, but 2.5 lakh people reached there. There was no emergency exit, no means of treatment, no adequate police force..."

Tiwari, speaking to ANI, said we must console the families of the victims. "Whatever happened in Hathras cannot be compensated. This is the time to find out from them how this incident happened to them."

Talking about Rahul Gandhi's visit to the victims' families in Hathras, Tiwari said, "Our leader Rahul Gandhi first reached Aligarh and then Hathras and shared the pain with the victims. After that, he also spoke to the members of family and learned about everyone's well-being. He also told the workers that the victims should be given as much help as possible. Rahul Gandhi had gone there for this sole purpose.

Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited families affected by the Hathras stampede and urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide fair compensation to the victims.

Rahul Gandhi, who reached Hathras early in the morning, met the grieving families of those who lost their lives in the July 2 tragedy at a 'Satsang' religious event of self-styled god Suraj Pal alias 'Bhole Baba' in the village from Fulari. in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh, which claimed 121 lives.

On his way to Hathras, the Congress leader also stopped over at Aligarh to meet the families of the victims. He expressed his condolences and sought to understand his situation.

"It is a sad incident. Many lives have been lost. I am not approaching this from a political perspective but addressing the shortcomings of the administration. The top priority should be to provide maximum compensation to the poor families affected by this tragedy. Request CM Yogi Adityanath to offer compensation with an open heart," he said while speaking to the media.

A three-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry has been constituted under the chairmanship of Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava to ensure completeness of the matter and transparency of investigation.

The Commission will investigate the stampede incident and submit its report in the next two months.

According to the preliminary report, the stampede occurred when the devotees were trying to pick up dirt from the preacher's feet and were stopped by the security personnel, leading to an avalanche and subsequent chaos.
