Koraput/Nabarangpur (Odisha), Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Navi Patnaik on Saturday alleged that the opposition parties were spreading lies and shedding crocodile tears.

Addressing election rallies in tribal-dominated Koraput and Nabarangpur Lok Sabha constituencies, Patnaik asked people if they were happy with their government.

Patnaik also asked people whether Naveen Patnaik is a good person and whether welfare schemes beneficial for the poor and tribals are reaching them.

People replied 'yes' and raised slogans of Naveen Patnaik Zindaba.

"If Naveen Patnaik is good then bless him and vote on the symbol of the conch shell," Patnai said in the gathering.

"Opposition parties are spreading lies and shedding crocodile tears for the people," Patnaik said.

Patnaik's close aide VK Pandian, BJD's Nabarangpur Lok Sabha candidate Pradeep Majhi, Koraput Lok Sabha candidate Kaushalya Hikaka and candidates from various assembly seats were present at the meeting.

Both Pandian and Majhi hit out hard at the opposition and alleged that the BJ leaders were opposing several welfare schemes and also the Sri Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project.

BJD leaders told the people about the major schemes of the state government like school transformation, Mission Shakti, Kalia Yojana for farmers, Mamat Yojana for pregnant women, renovation of temples, mosques, churches and improvement of places of worship for tribal people.
