Thiruvananthapuram: Congress on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'breaking his silence on Manipur violence' in Rajya Sabha is a real victory for the opposition parties.

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke in the Rajya Sabha on Manipur violence, the opposition party said the entire country was waiting for Modi's response on the issue for the last one and a half years.

Venugopal said the opposition created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday due to the government's reluctance to give five minutes to a Manipur MP to speak before the Prime Minister's reply to the motion of thanks on the President's Address.

The Alappuzha MP said the opposition requested the government to listen to the voice of Manipur before the PM's speech. Justifying the sloganeering by opposition members during the PM's speech in the Lok Sabha, he said, "They were not prepared and that is why the ruckus started."
