In New Delhi [India], Open AI vice president Srinivas Narayanan said on Wednesday that his company running ChatG will support India's AI missions and application development initiatives.

"Open AI is committed to supporting India in its AI mission in India and application development initiatives to ensure that Indian developers can leverage our models and benefit society," Narayanan said while speaking at the India World AI Summit in the national capital.

The OpenAI executive urged the Union Ministry of Information and Technology to continue talks where the company can add value.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) organized the two-day India Global AI Summit 2024 in the national capital.

Narayanan acknowledged the importance of the Indian market and said that OpenAI's leadership has put the country on top when formulating policies.

"We have been developing a growing habit as a leadership team of continuing to learn from India. We keep India in mind in any important decisions we make," said the OpenAI vice president.

Talking about the progress in the field of AI, he said that in the last decade, the entire field has witnessed tremendous advancements in AI.

"We launched Gjust a year and a half ago. We thought it would be a quiet research breakthrough, but in the last 18 months, we've seen people using it in transformative ways and it's impacting people's daily lives, including here in India."

Highlighting the widespread use of AI, he said that AI is being used in many industries across the world.

"AI has already added speed and dynamism to India's already dynamic business ecosystem. Entrepreneurs understand the gaps in the market. They are creating innovative products. We are reducing the cost of intelligence, enabling developers to write code and helping them create content completely conversational and natural interfaces with computing," he said.

During the same event, in his inaugural address, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized the shared responsibility of working towards safe use of AI.

OpenAI is an American artificial intelligence research organization founded in December 2015 and based in San Francisco. Sam Altman is the company's CEO.
