New Delhi, Australia's great fast bowler Brett Lee believes that apart from Jaspri Bumrah, other fast bowlers are failing to play the yorker effectively in the death overs and he wants them to master the important bowling.

Bumrah is one of the most complete bowlers in world cricket at the moment. H can bowl wicket-taking deliveries without conceding runs, but the most lethal weapon in his arsenal is his toe-crushing yorker, which he often does not execute perfectly in the death overs.

"As a general rule, we haven't seen any fast bowler bowl yorkers recently other than Bumrah.

"I would like to see the fast bowlers bowl more yorkers," Lee said recently at the launch of the Legends Intercontinental T20 League.I still don't think he bowls enough yorkers in the death overs."

With scores of over 200 regularly in the recently concluded IPL, Lay believes the fast bowlers would be more economical if they bowled yorkers.

“If you look at 17 years of the Indian Premier League, on average a yorker goes for a strike rate of less than 100. That tells me the bowler is executed for one run or less.

“Now, when you bowl yorkers and you have guys who can go down and scoop over your head, it puts pressure on you as a bowler."You have to set up in the right field and keep two guys back, put the third man back and then bowl," Lee said.

As T20 cricket progresses, the game is becoming more inclined towards the batsmen. With the 'Impact Player Rule' and flat decks, bowlers have struggled in the IPL.

Lee, like many other former players, called for balance between bat and ball.

“I am completely in favor of the batsmen, but there should be something for the bowlers also.I am not demanding a green top where the team is out for 110 runs, because that is not good for cricket either.

"I think you want a good score. Anywhere around 185 to 230 is a good score. We have seen scores of 265, 270, 277 now.

“It is really difficult because most of the bowlers are now scoring 45 to 50 runs in their four overs." He said

Warner has earned the right to leave on its own terms

Australia's charismatic young batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk burst onto the scene in his debut IPL season and many have called for his inclusion in Australia's T2 World Cup squad.

However, the selectors decided to choose Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh at the top of the order along with experienced opener David Warner, who will retire after the tournament.

McGurk, a top-order batsman and Warner's Delhi Capitals teammate, has been named as a traveling reserve.

Lee said, "David Warner has earned the right to go out on his own terms. And if for whatever reason something doesn't happen, he (McGurk) is certainly there to take part.,

Although Warner did not have a very good IPL as he missed many matches due to injury, the southpaw has scored 834 runs at a strike rate of around 150 in T20 cricket since 2021.

He was badly out of form ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup, but became the player of the tournament, playing a key role in Australia's first World Cup win in the shortest format.

On the other hand, the 22-year-old McGurk, who was called up as Lungi Ngidi's replacement at Delhi Capitals, displayed explosive batting and scored four half-centuries in nine matches at a strike rate of over 234.

“I think if you go there as a reserve batsman, you definitely have a chance to get a chance.

“This year this happened with Delhi Capitals, he was not even selected in the team.“Ricky Ponting called him late at night and said come in and he's got a few injuries, so right time, right place.

Lee said, "But he was advised and he expressed it beautifully, saying that he is only 22 years old (comfortably). He has time. There is no point in rushing it."
