Srinagar: A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The officers provided this information.

He said that after receiving information about the presence of terrorists, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Aragam area of ​​the district on Sunday night, after which the firing started.

The Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said one terrorist had been killed. It said the operation was ongoing until final reports were received.

"Based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on the intervening night of 16-17 June in the general area of ​​Gurihajin, Aragam Bandipora; one terrorist killed. Gaya, progress in operation,” Chinar Corps posted on Twitter.

Officials said the encounter started after the terrorists started firing at the security personnel. He said that the identity of the killed terrorist has not been established yet.

"One body has been seen at the encounter site while a search is underway to locate more terrorists in the area," an official had earlier said.
