New Delhi: A 32-year-old man was murdered and robbed of Rs 5,500 by his friend in North Delhi's Burari area. The police gave this information on Tuesday.

He told that the accused has been identified as Luv (21).

"On June 11 at 7.18 pm, a PCR call was received at Burari police station about a person lying injured. The injured was shifted to BJRM Hospital by the staff, where doctors declared him brought dead. " Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Manoj Kumar Meena said.

He said that the police initially found the case to be accidental death and registered an FIR.

After this, forensic investigation of the incident site was conducted.

"On June 14, the deceased was identified as Neeraj of Sant Nagar area of ​​Burari... A case of IPC section 302 (murder) was registered. During investigation, family members revealed that the deceased was unmarried And on June 10, around 12.30 am, he left the house alone under the influence of alcohol, taking with him his mobile phone and some cash,” the DCP said.

Police checked 100 CCTVs during the investigation. Police said that the deceased was seen going with two people on a motorcycle.

“We traced the motorcycle and caught Luv and Rajan Kumar (22). Both Luv and Rajan were roaming in the city under the influence of alcohol on the night of June 10 and 11. Since the deceased and they knew each other, They convinced him to come along and have a few more drinks, all three of them went to Ashok Vihar.

He bought liquor and returned near Mukundpur flyover and drank it again. Rajan left from there leaving Neeraj and Luv.

DCP said that accused Luv was aware that Neeraj was taking cash with him. With the intention of robbery, the accused Luv killed Neeraj by hitting him several times on the head with a cement beam lying on the roadside.

"We recovered Rs 2,500 and the stolen mobile phone from the accused. The accused Luv is a school cab driver," the DCP said.
