Prashant Kishor said, "If implemented with the right intentions, this idea will be extremely beneficial for the country."

Kishore highlighted that the success of the proposal would largely depend on the purpose and intention behind its implementation.

“I welcomed the idea if pursued with the aim of benefiting the nation, but cautioned against its misuse. If this law is used to target or harm specific groups, it can have negative consequences. The honesty and integrity of the government’s approach will determine its success,” Kishore said.

Based on his wide experience in electoral politics, Kishor highlighted that almost one-fourth of the country's population votes every year due to frequent elections at different states and levels of government.

He pointed out that this constant election cycle often prevents those in power from fully focusing on governance, as they are always in election mode.

Kishor believes that holding elections once or twice in a term will not only leave the government with more time to focus on governance, but will also save time and resources for both the government and the public.

"The concept of 'One Nation One Election' adds to the broader conversation on electoral reforms, with the aim of streamlining elections across the country for greater efficiency and governance stability," Kishor said.

“The electoral process that has been in place for the last 50 years cannot be changed overnight. The government should give 4-5 years time to gradually implement such an important change,” he said.
