Provincial police sources told Xinhua that the first blast occurred when a truck loaded with coal hit a landmine in the province's Duk district, while the second blast was set off by a remote-controlled device as people gathered at the scene.

Police sources said the victims included several police Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officers and mine workers, Xinhua news agency reported. After the first blast, CTD personnel reached the spot to inspect the area.

All the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital, the condition of many of them is critical.

After the incident, security forces have cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.
