Colombo, A foreigner named Tamim Rahman, associated with the Lanka Premier League franchise Dambulla Thunder, has been arrested by the Sports Ministry's Special Investigation Unit, police said on Wednesday.

The magistrate court here had ordered to send him on remand till May 31.

Rahman was detained by immigration officials at the Colombo International Airport due to a travel ban imposed on him by the court.

He was detained for trying to fix matches in the LPL, which was scheduled to take place between July 1 and 21.

The auction for the fifth edition of the LPL was held on Tuesday with the participation of 500 local and international players.
