Hoshangabad (MP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, terming him a "royal magician" over his comment on "ending poverty in one stroke" and saying the country does not take him seriously.

Addressing a rally in Pipariya town in Madhya Pradesh's Hoshangabad Lok Sabha constituency, Modi targeted the opposition Indian faction over the fact that one of its constituents is in favor of nuclear disarmament and said they cannot defend the country.

He also said that Congress always insulted Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, but the BJ government has respected him.

“The Prince of Congress had announced to eradicate poverty in one stroke. I laugh.Where was this royal magician missing for so many years? Hi Dadi (former PM Indira Gandhi) had given the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao' 5 years ago," Modi said without naming Rahul Gandhi.

PM said, the country does not take him seriously.

"He ran the government by remote control for 10 years before 2014. Now he has got a mantra immediately. He made such statements and became a laughing stock. This is a joke on the poor," he said.,

Without naming any party, Modi referred to the CPI(M) manifesto, saying a component of the Indian faction has called for nuclear disarmament.

Can a party which cannot strengthen itself strengthen the country? J asked.

He said, "Many dangerous promises were made in the manifestos of India's alliance partners. The manifesto of one of its partners has promised nuclear disarmament in the country."

He said, "We must have nuclear weapons to defend our country; those who say so cannot defend India."

Taking a dig at the Congress, Modi said that as soon as the son of a poor family became the Prime Minister, the grand old party spread rumors that the Constitution and democracy were in danger.“Modi has reached here because of the Constitution written by Baba Saheb,” he said on the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar.

The PM said, "Congress always insulted Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, we have respected him."

He also said that Congress never recognized the contribution of tribals, but the BJP government has honored them.

Because of the Constitution given by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, a tribal woman became the President of India, the PM said, referring to the election of Draupadi Murmu to the country's top constitutional post.

“Today is a big day in history because today is Ambedkar ji's birth anniversary. It was because of Babasaheb's Constitution that the daughter of a tribal family became the President of the country and the son of a poor woman is asking for your votes to serve you for the third time," Modi said.

He said that the BJP government has got the opportunity to develop the Panch Teerth associated with Baba Saheb Ambedkar who was born in Mhow city of Madhya Pradesh.

Modi said the Congress had imposed emergency during its rule and dissolved state governments as per its wish.

He said, “Now the royal family is threatening that if Modi becomes Prime Minister for the third time, the country will be on fire.,

He had earlier also made statements that the country would be on fire if Ram temple was built and Article 370 (which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir) was removed, he said.

"They are jealous. The fire is on in their hearts and minds. They are not jealous of Modi, but jealous of the love of 140 crore people of the country for Modi. They are jealous of being out of power for 10 years. Are restless after." PM said.

“The (opposition) INDI alliance is unable to decide in which direction the country should move forward,” he said.

The PM said, the slogan of “Once again, Modi government” is resonating across the country.

He said in the meeting, "Modi has no dreams, your dreams are my mission."

The Prime Minister said that Congress never recognized the contribution of tribals, but the BJP government has honored them.

He said the government will celebrate 2025 as 'Tribal Pride Day' to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of tribal hero Lord Birsa Munda.
