New Delhi [lndia], As 'Chandu Champion' builds excitement ahead of its release, director Kabir Khan reveals how by chance he came across the story of athlete Murlikant Petkar.

During a media interaction, Kabir said, "By chance I came across the story of Murlikant. Someone gave me an old article and asked if I had read the story. When I read the article, my first reaction was that it couldn't be true. It seemed impossible for so many things to happen so dramatically in one person's life."

“And if it was true, it was hard to believe that we didn't know about it.If he was such a great hero, how could we not know him? That's where it all started, and it took us a long time to find him. No one knew where he was because he was truly an unsung hero, so a few months later, when we finally found him, there was no stopping us."

Kabir also revealed why he chose Kartik Aryan for the role of 'Chandu Champion'.

"I think directors have an eye for talent, and I also think that more than just talent, it's also a sense of the energy of the person. As a writer and director, when I'm creating a character , then an image is already formed in my mind. It's very important for me to see that energy in the actor," he said.

"Karthik had all the elements required for Chandu Champion. I needed a lot of elements for this character, and I realized that Kartik definitely had the raw material to play Chandu Champion. More importantly The thing is that he had the right energy and attitude to make this journey,” he said.Directed by Kabir Khan, 'Chandu Champion' tells the inspiring story of a determined athlete. Kartik Aryan plays the character of Chandu in the film, which is based on the life of Murlikant Petkar, India's first Paralympic gold medalist in freestyle swimming.

Releasing on June 14, the film aims to connect the audience with a story of resilience and determination.
