Speaking at a hastily called press conference here, Omar Abdullah said, "A conspiracy is being hatched by the BJP to support its 'supporting parties' in an attempt to postpone the polling date in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency. "

He accused the Election Commission and the Jammu and Kashmir administration of trying to give advantage to NC's opponents.

“We appeal and warn the Election Commission to avoid postponing the elections in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency.

“The letter requesting the adjournment has been signed only by those parties which are supporting parties of the BJP. Interestingly, even the BJP and the People's Conference, which are not contesting in this constituency, have signed the adjournment request.“What does he have to do with this election? If I write a similar letter to the Election Commission about Tamil Nadu, Kerala or Maharashtra, will they consider such a request where my party is not contesting any election,” he asked.

He said that if the argument given that there is a possibility of closure of Mughal Road then it is illogical.

He said, 'If they can keep the road open till Kargil, Gurez, Tangdhar and Machil then why can't they keep the Mughal Road open.'

He said that if campaigning by candidates is an issue then our candidate is sitting here and he says that he can approach his constituency in Rajouri and Poonch through Reasi district.

It is to be mentioned that some candidates and political parties have requested the Election Commission to postpone the polling date in Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, in which Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, BJP, People's Conference, Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist People's Front , Advocate Mohammad Salim Pare (candidate), Ali.Mohammad Wani (Candidate) and Arshid Ali Lone (Candidate).

Asked about his prospects in North Kashmir's Baramulla constituency, from where he is the candidate, Omar Abdullah said, "I am confident that I will win that seat. They called me a 'tourist' and today they call me a 'tourist'." So afraid that all of them have united against me.

Recall that former Chief Minister and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President Ghulam Nabi Azad had called Omar Abdullah a 'tourist' and alleged that Omar spends most of his time outside Jammu and Kashmir.
