The competitions begin on Saturday with the men's 25m rapid-fire pistol (RFP) and women's 25m pistol T3 qualification rounds.

A total of 16 matches across eight Olympic rifle and pistol individual events will be held over nine days, culminating with the men's and women's 10m Air Rifle T4 finals on May 19. The finals of both competitions are scheduled for Sunday, as per the Paris Olympics schedule, with the finals being held a day after qualification.

OST 1 and 2 were held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi last month. The top two shooters in each event, based on the average of the best three out of four trial scores, will be in pole position to fly to Paris in July.No shooter has yet confirmed his place among the five selected in each event and all 37 will have to give their best to ensure a Paris berth.

Only three shooters, Olympians Manu Bhaker, Isha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan are contenders in several events, namely women's sport pistol and women's 10m air pistol.

The favorites in the men's RFP are Anish Bhanwala and Vijayveer Sidhu, who not only have the advantage of being quota winners but have also performed very well in the first two trials.

In women's sport pistol, Manu Bhaker and Isha Singh are leading on the basis of the first two trials.

There is plenty of local interest in the trials as Aishwarya Pratap Singh Toma and Aashi Chouksey renew their fight for an Olympic spot in the men's and women's 50m rifle 3 positions (3P).Ashi currently leads the pack of five and is offering bonus points for being deemed a quota holder and with the extra podium points she has collected in Delhi, she looks like the favorite to make the cut.

Tokyo Olympian Aishwarya, competing for her second consecutive Olympics, has a lot of work to do despite achieving the highest qualification score of 595 in the second Delhi trials.
