New Delhi, Ola Electric on Monday cut the prices of all variants of its entry-level scooter S1 by Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000, bringing it at par with convention scooters.

In a virtual address, Ola Electric chief marketing officer Anshul Khandelwa said prices of the company's entry-level scooters have been reduced with immediate effect and deliveries will begin next week.

An average scooter costs Rs 1 lakh, he said, adding that consumers have responded that they will consider electric scooters when prices are at par with petrol scooters.

"We thought why not do this. Let's make sure we give you more than just a petrol scooter," he said.

Ola Electric's announcement comes just a week after rival Ather Energe introduced the 'Rizta' range of family electric scooters, priced between Rs 1,09,99 lakh and Rs 1,44,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru).The company said the S1X range marks its entry into the mass market segment. The entry-level electric scooter offers an IDC-certified range of 190 km, 14 km and 95 km in 4 kWh, 3 kWh and 2kWh variants respectively. Ola Electric said that its speed in 4kWh and 3kWh variants is 90 kmph, and in kWh variant it is 4.1 seconds and 85 kmph.

Khandelwal said the electric scooter adoption rate in India by March 31, 2024 was 25 per cent and 9 per cent of the total electric two-wheeler market, adding that "the future is truly electric".
