Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], Security has been beefed up in the state ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Odisha to be held on June 10.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and BJP leader Amit Shah will also participate in this program.

"The Prime Minister is coming for the swearing-in ceremony. So, we are making arrangements. The Special Security Group team has already arrived.We are deploying adequate number of forces. We are expecting many VIPs, CMs, MoS and other VIPs to attend the function, accordingly, we will make security arrangements,” said Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Kumar Sarangi.

“Traffic diversion plan will be arranged… We are hopeful that everything will go smoothly. We have not received any confirmation from any state government.But we are hopeful that by this evening we will get confirmation from various governments regarding the CM's participation,” he said.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Chief Minister of Odisha on June 10. Around 30,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony.

BJD chief Naveen Patnaik's 24-year tenure as Chief Minister of Odisha has come to an end after suffering significant defeats in the state assembly and parliamentary elections.He submitted his resignation to Odisha Governor Raghubar Das at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party crossed the majority mark of 74 in the 147-seat assembly by securing 78 seats, while the BJD secured 51 seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP performed well by securing 20 of the 21 parliamentary seats in the state, while the remaining one seat was won by the Congress.

Meanwhile, Narendra Modi is set to take oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time tomorrow. Dignitaries from all over the world will be present in this mega event.Security has been tightened in the national capital ahead of the mega event.

The security measures follow the formal appointment of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister by the President of India on Friday.

A letter of support was also given to the President on behalf of the constituent parties of NDA.

According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than 303 in 2019.

On the other hand, Congress registered a strong improvement by winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 292 seats, the India Bloc crossed the 230 mark, putting up a tough contest and defying all predictions.
