Bhubaneswar, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched a scathing attack on BJP national vice president Baijayant (Jai) Panda and accused the two-time MP of betrayal towards himself and the people of Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency.

Breaking his usual stance of avoiding personal attacks, Patnaik criticized Panda without explicitly naming him at an election rally, where he supported BJD candidate Anshuman Mohanty.

Addressing an election rally, the BJD president said, "I made someone (Panda) the MP from Kendrapara for 10 years. However, he did it only for his own prosperity and the benefit of his company (mining) without doing anything for the people. Work done." In Lok Sabha constituency.

Panda was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kendrapara in 2009 and 2014 under the BJD banner before its split. He contested the same seat for the third time in 2019 on a BJP ticket, but lost the election to BJD candidate and cinestar Anubhav Mohanty by a margin of over 1.5 lakh votes.

Patnaik highlighted Panda's alleged neglect of the constituency during his tenure and described it as a betrayal of trust.

The Chief Minister said, "The people of Kendrapara gave him the responsibility of the area for 10 years. He did nothing for the constituency and worked for himself. He betrayed the people as well as me.,

Appealing to the voters of Kendrapara, traditionally the stronghold of his late father Biju Patnaik, the Odisha Chief Minister urged support for BJD candidates in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Kendrapara holds sentimental significance for the BJD, known as Biju Babu's "karmabhoomi", with the party winning the Lok Sabha seat consecutively from 1998 to 2019, as well as all seven assembly constituencies in 2019.

Responding to Patnaik's allegations, industrialist-turned-politician Panda dismissed them as desperate tactics indicating outside influence on the chief minister's statements.

“I have heard about the CM's allegations. I do not hold him accountable because I think these allegations have been given to him by someone else, colloquially called 'Tamil Babu', who holds the microphone and motivates him. Seems to be doing." Panda said.

Senior BJD leader VK Pandian echoed Patnaik's sentiments, accusing Panda of prioritizing personal interests over public welfare during his tenure.

Stepping up his attack on Panda, the bureaucrat-turned-politician said, "H (Panda) after becoming MP worked for his company instead of working for the people. He worked for his company instead of the rail line for the people. Built a railway shed for it." Of Kendrapara.”

Pandian said, “As a member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, he waived off the loan of his company. He wanted to become the chairman of the finance committee, but the CM rejected his proposal."

During the day, Patnaik also addressed election rallies in Jagatsinghpur and Rahama and accused the opposition parties, especially the BJP, of spreading lies about Odisha and his government.

Patnaik said, "Opposition parties are spreading lies about the government and shedding crocodile tears for the people of Odisha. They are not concerned about the people of the state. They are only trying to mislead them to get votes." Are."
