Bhubaneswar, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said Odisha needs an energetic and committed government that will work as a partner with the Narendra Modi administration at the Centre.

The Foreign Minister alleged in the press conference that despite being rich in natural and human resources, the state is lagging behind in development.

“Odisha is not developed compared to its resources. The manufacturing sector has not developed much in the state. Jaishankar said, therefore, it needs an energetic and committed government that will work like a partner with the Modi government at the Centre.

Stating that the Modi government is providing all assistance and funds to Odisha, he said, “The state has not made much progress in the implementation of central schemes like PM Kisan Yojana. The state has not implemented the Ayushman scheme”.

The Union Minister said that the culture of Odisha was widely appreciated across the world when Konark Vhee was seen at the recent G20 Summit hosted by India.

A replica of the Konark Wheel from the Sun Temple in Puri, Odisha, served as the backdrop to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with G20 leaders when he reached the summit venue last year.

Jaishankar said, "This shows how much respect and affection the Prime Minister has for the rich culture of Odisha."

He said that G20 meetings were held in various states, including Odisha, to boost the tourism potential of the states.

He said the Central government has provided Rs 18 lakh crore to the state in the last 10 years in terms of grants and tax transfers.

Jaishankar said that the people of Odisha will vote this time to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Modi for their rapid development.
