Bhubaneswar, The newly elected BJP-led Odisha government has promised to continue its association with hockey by extending its sponsorship deal with Hockey India till 2036.

The year 2036 holds special significance for Odisha as it marks the centenary of its establishment as an independent state in 1936, an important occasion for the people of the state.

The partnership was strengthened at a high-level meeting in the presence of Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey, General Secretary Bhola Nath Singh, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary and Chief Development Commissioner. Pradeep Kumar Jena, and Commissioner-cum-Secretary R Vinil Krishna.

"Our meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Minister of State for Sports and Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj was fruitful. We discussed the progress of the game and strategies to take our beloved game to new heights," Tirkey said in a statement. " ,
