Bhubaneswar, Odisha government on Thursday constituted a committee to determine the timeline and budgetary requirements for identifying MBBS books and translating them into Odia language.

"In view of the mandate to provide medical education in Odia language in the State, a committee to examine the matter, identify the essential course books required to be translated into Odia language for MBBS education and work out the timelines and budget requirements has been formed to carry out this task,” an order issued by the health department said.

Odisha University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Manas Ranjan Sahu has been appointed chairman of the committee, while the Registrar is the member convener.

The order said the 22-member committee will assess the quantity of work required and the timeline required to complete the work.

The panel has been asked to submit its proposal to the health department within 15 days.
