Balangir (Odisha) [India], Chief Minister of Odisha and Biju Janata Dal (BJD President Naveen Patnaik) filed their nomination papers from Kantabanj Assembly seat on Thursday. CM Patnaik is contesting the assembly elections from Kantabanji and Hinjil assembly seats. Earlier on April 24, the Chief Minister started the election campaign from Hinjili constituency in Odisha. He said that Odisha is the first state in India to present a separate agriculture budget. Naveen Patnaik said, "This decade will be a golden era for the youth of the state as the government is doing. Emphasis on employment and skill development we will bring youth budget in the state. Odisha is the first state in India to present a separate agriculture budget He further said that the coming decade will be about our identity. Opposition parties are doing politics on every issue and opposing developmental activities. He has opposed many projects including the Shri Mandir Parikrama Project. The coming decade will be of Odisha," he said. Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha will be held simultaneously in four phases, the first phase on May 13, the second phase on May 20, the third phase on May 25 and the last phase on June 1. The results will be declared on June 4. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) emerged as the dominant party by securing 20 out of 21 seats, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won. However, the 2019 elections saw a change in the political landscape. BJD's seat tally dropped to 12 while BJP made significant gains, this change marked a significant increase in BJP's presence in the state Indian National Congress (INC) also managed to secure one seat in the 2018 elections.
