Bhubaneswar: A plane carrying Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was diverted to Jharsuguda on Monday after it could not land at the Biju Patnai International Airport here due to bad weather. The officers provided this information.

Patnaik was on the plane with his close aide VK Pandian while returning to Bhubaneswar after an election meeting at Khariar in Nuapada district.

It could not land in Bhubaneswar due to heavy rain and strong winds, Pandian said in a video message.

He said the plane hovered over the capital for about half an hour and was then diverted to Jharsuguda's Veer Surendra Sai Airport.

The plane landed safely at Jharsuguda airport.
