Koraput (Odisha), Central University of Odisha has decided to set up the Center for Ambedkar Studies in the university, which will be dedicated to interdisciplinary research on Ambedkar's teachings, Vice-Chancellor Chakradha Tripathi said.

Tripathi gave information about the plan during the 134th birth anniversary celebrations of Babasaheb BR Ambedkar on Sunday.

Reflecting on Ambedkar's deep influence as a scholar and social reformer, Tripathi highlights his important role in shaping India's constitutional framework and advocating social justice.

He emphasized Ambedkar's continuing quest for an egalitarian society based on the principles of rule of law, civil liberties, gender equality and empowering marginalized communities.

Tripathi also said that a statue of Ambedkar would be installed inside the campus as a symbol of the university's commitment to preserving his ideals.

The VC called for a fresh appreciation of the economic, social, educational efforts of Ambedkar while emphasizing their relevance in today's world.
