Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA Simrani Nayak on Tuesday joined the BJP after not getting nomination from Hindon constituency.

State BJP President Manmohan Samal welcomed him into the party.

BJD on Monday named Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahu as its candidate from Hindol assembly seat.

Nayak, a two-time MLA, alleged, "I worked for BJD for almost 10 years, but my efforts were again weighed down by money. I have neither money, nor mines nor any industry. Therefore, I BJD did not give the ticket." Legislator.

She joins the long list of BJD leaders who have left the party ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

These are Jaidev MLA Arabinda Dhali, Telkoi MLA Premanda Nayak, Athamalik MLA Ramesh Chandra Sai and Soro MLA Parasuram Dhada.

BJD MPs Bhartrihari Mahtab and Anubhav Mohanty have also left the party and joined BJP.

Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases starting from May 13.

The state has 21 Lok Sabha seats and a 147-member assembly.
