Jammu: A notorious criminal was detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba district on Wednesday, police said.

A police spokesperson said Shiv Dayal alias "Sunny", a resident of Chohala Kotha, has been named in various criminal cases registered at seven police stations in Samba and Jammu districts.

"His criminal activities pose a serious threat to public peace," the spokesperson said, adding that the District Magistrate of Samba ordered Dayal's detention on the basis of a detailed dossier prepared by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba. Issued.

The spokesperson said that after his detention, Dayal has been kept in Kathua district jail.

The PSA is an administrative law that allows for up to two years of detention without charge or trial in certain cases.
