The 26-year-old athlete had to issue an update on his health as the organizers said in an official statement that Neeraj has suffered an injury during training which will restrict his participation in the event starting on May 28.

"Hello everyone! After a recent throwing session, I decided not to compete in Ostrava because I felt something in my adductor. I have had problems with this before and pushing it at this level could lead to injury 'Neeraj clarified on Instagram Story.

He said, "Let me clarify that I am not injured but I do not want to take any risk during the Olympic year, hence this decision had to be taken." Once I feel it has completely healed, I will come back to competitions. Thank you for your support,” he added.

Earlier, the organizers had said that Neeraj had suffered an adductor muscle injury during training two weeks ago. He will attend the athlete meet only as a guest.

"He will not be able to throw in Ostrava due to an injury (adductor muscle) sustained during training two weeks ago," the organizers said in an earlier statement.

"He will be attending the event as a guest," it said.

Neeraj started his season by finishing second at the Doha Diamond League earlier this month. He returned to the domestic competition after almost three years and won the gold medal at the Federation Cup with a throw of 82.27m, helping DP Man finish second in Bhubaneswar.
