Prayagraj (UP), The Allahabad High Court has said that it is not appropriate to write "encroachers will be shot" on premises belonging to the armed forces for security purposes.

Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav made the above remarks while granting bail to Atvir Limbu, a Nepali national held on charges of illegally entering the Air Force station while drunk in February.

"These types of words have a bad impact on children, so the Central Government can take care in writing such words. 'Encroachers will be shot' and 'will be shot on sight' should be replaced with lighter words. should be used.” ,” the court said in its order dated May 31, 2024.

On behalf of the applicant Limbu it was said that he has been falsely implicated in the case. He "inadvertently" reached Manauri Air Force Station, and since the applicant was in an inebriated state and did not have knowledge of Hindi, he could not explain it to the posted soldier properly and his identity card was lost.

Earlier, the court had sought guidelines regarding such writing on campuses.

"As per the above affidavit of compliance with the above guidelines, it is true that trespassers are not allowed to enter the Armed Forces premises for security purposes, but in my opinion the mentioned language is 'will be shot at sight'" ', is not appropriate, especially, where the armed forces installation is situated in a public place where the general public and children pass through.

The court said, "Such words have a negative impact on children, so the central government should be careful in writing such words."
