Normal life was disrupted due to rain in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana on Thursday evening.

Official sources said that following the rain, the slab of a 'nala' (drain) in Banjara Hills of the city broke and some two-wheelers were swept away due to this.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Yousufguda in the city received the highest rainfall of 51.3 mm, followed by Center for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) at 48 mm.

Due to rain, roads were waterlogged at some places in the city and traffic jams occurred.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Vijaya Lakshmi R Gadva visited Uday Nagar in Banjara Hills, where the slab of the 'drain' had broken, the source said.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy spoke to secretariat officials and directed them to take measures to see that citizens do not face inconvenience.

GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose asked officials to alert field personnel and see that measures are taken to remove water from the roads.

He urged citizens to go out only if there is an emergency, an official release said.
