Noida, The Noida Police on Sunday said it has seized 86 vehicles and issued 12,358 challans for various traffic violations, in a two-day drive over the weekend aimed at improving road safety.

The traffic police carried out the special drive on Saturday and Sunday in key areas including Rajnigandha Chowk, Sector 37, Sector 62 roundabout, Surajpur Chowk, Pari Chowk, Dadri and several other hotspots in Greater Noida, according to a official statement.

"On July 6, a total of 7,406 e-challans were issued and 47 vehicles were seized," a police spokesperson said.

The violations included 4,630 cases of driving without a helmet, 249 cases of driving without seat belts and 141 cases of triple driving.

Other violations included 44 cases of using mobile phones while driving, 863 vehicles parked in prohibited areas, 563 vehicles traveling in the wrong direction, 49 noise pollution violations, 77 air pollution violations, 186 vehicles with defective license plates, 216 cases of running red lights and 55 cases of driving without a license.

In addition, another 333 various violations were recorded, the spokesperson said.

The campaign continued on Sunday with more enforcement measures.

"On the second day, 4,952 e-challans were issued and 39 vehicles were seized," the spokesperson added.

Sunday's violations included 3,630 cases of driving without a helmet, 103 cases of driving without a seat belt, 87 cases of triple driving and 19 cases of using mobile phones while driving. Other violations recorded were 431 vehicles parked in no-parking zones, 202 vehicles traveling in the wrong direction, 27 violations for noise pollution, 42 violations for air pollution, 77 vehicles with defective license plates, 96 cases of jumping red lights and 55 cases of driving without a license.

In addition, another 183 various violations were recorded on Sunday, the official said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar Yadav said the crackdown aimed at improving road safety and maintaining smooth traffic flow was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh.

"The comprehensive enforcement action is part of Noida Police's ongoing efforts to improve traffic discipline and ensure safer roads for all commuters," Yadav added.
