Noida: In an extraordinary display of devotion to duty, a police sub-inspector jumped into a deep drain in Greater Noida to save an inebriated man who was trying to end his life, officials said on Monday. Gave.

He said the sub-inspector, Sohanveer Singh, is attached to Phase 2 police station and is in-charge of the local Panchsheel outpost.

“Today police received information that a person in an inebriated condition had fallen into a deep and dirty drain near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road in an attempt to commit suicide.

"Immediately responding to the call, sub-inspector Sohanveer Singh along with sub-inspector (trainee) Navneet Kumar and head constable Pradeep Kumar reached the spot," a police spokesperson said.

On reaching there, they saw the man floating in the fast flowing dirty water of the drain, the officer said.

"In a display of incredible bravery, Singh jumped into the drain and saved the man," the spokesperson said.

According to police, the man was immediately taken to the hospital and his condition is stable.
